Our new Volume Mascara has been crafted by combining ecological and cosmetic standards. Its 98% natural and Vegan-certified formula allows each application of this mascara to enhance your lashes with rich, velvety pigmentation. Its curved brush, composed of nylon fibres, perfectly hugs the shape of your lashes. Each stroke separates and elongates the lashes, creating graceful curves. Thanks to the tube's wider opening, the application is precise and uniform, without any clumps or overload, by depositing just the right amount of product on your lashes.

This mascara is 98.91% natural, due to the inclusion of 2 preservatives as follows:

0.55% Sodium Hydroxide, also known as caustic soda, is used to control the pH of the mascara to prevent it from being too acidic and thus irritating.
0.45% Potassium Sorbate, a highly effective preservative against yeasts and moulds. This antimicrobial is also used in the food industry under code E202 and is recognised as safe.
These preservatives can be used in lower quantities and are thinner than organic preservatives, and so allow us to create a mascara that is as effective as any 100% synthetic mascara without any limitations.

Whilst these preservatives are approved by Cosmos and Ecocert organic certifying bodies, this mascara is not certified organic as the leading mascara supplier that we have used for this product does not certify.

Packaged in a unique, varnished bamboo case, Zao makeup is both a beautiful gift and an item to treasure. Existing customers, please note that we are phasing out our bamboo pouches that our products were packaged in (except glass bottle foundations and primers), in order to further reduce waste. The pouches are now available here for purchase separately for gifting purposes.

A wand is included with all refills due to hygiene regulations, but please note that a lot of wildlife charities will take old mascara wands as they are extremely useful for removing things such as fly eggs and larva from the fur and feathers of animals.

Bamboo Hydrosol: Derived from the distillation of bamboo leaves, this active ingredient is recognised for its richness in silica that remineralises, strengthening and repairing thin and weakened eyelashes.

Carnauba Wax: Secreted by the leaves of a palm tree native to Brazil, this wax is a film-forming agent that protects your lashes by producing a continuous film that improves the staying power of your makeup.
