Description

Castor oil

Latin name: Ricinus communis

Known for its many properties and abundance of use, castor oil is a vegetable oil produced from the seeds of the Ricinus communis plant. Rich in vitamin E and omega-9 fatty acids. As a home remedy, castor oil is widely used for a number of problems and conditions. To name a few, it helps in dealing with problems related to hair, skin, joints and intestines.

Against pain: Castor oil is a triglyceride and about 90% of the oil consists of ricinoleic acid, which has anti-inflammatory properties. Therefor, it is used to reduce inflammation and edema of the joints and tissues. Therapeutic use: taking 2 tablespoons of castor oil in a glass of water provides relief in cases of severe rheumatoid arthritis. The oil can also be applied to the painful areas. Also calming forperiod cramps. Beware because it also works as a laxative.

For the hair:Its fatty acids and vitamin E content help with hair development. When applied to hair and scalp, it stimulates hair growth, blood circulation and removes any bacteria, fungi and dandruff. Apply to the roots and leave on so they can receive necessary nutrients from the castor oil. Helps in the treatment of hair loss and split ends. The oil traps the moisture in the hair and prevents dryness of hair, eyelashes and eyebrows.

Use as a laxative: When taken orally, ricinoleic acid is released into the intestine and then acts as a laxative. Many women tend to complain about constipation after childbirth. Take castor oil before going to bed in the evening, and the acid will help with good bowel movement.

Skin Care: Castor oil keeps the skin hydrated and free from infections, which makes it a good acne treatment. Suitable for areas of dry skin such as arms, legs, ideal for stretch marks. Excellent anti-wrinkle action when used regularly. It also heals cuts and wounds, as well as diaper rashes in babies.

For warts, moles and blisters: Castor oil also helps to get rid of warts and moles. In EdgarCayce’s health encyclopedia a mixture with a pinch of baking soda is suggested to be applied to the affected area. Topical application also solves the problem of blisters and calluses. Helps dissolve ovary cysts. Its fatty acid is easily absorbed by the skin.
